Personality:
Legato is the King of the Kingdom of Fire, however unlike the name would suggest, he is not very 'fiery' at all. Legato tends to be cool and calm, never showing any real emotion, even anger or disgust. There are brief time where he might show amusement, but those are short lived.
The King believes that those in the Ice Kingdom are 'Evil' and should be exterminated down to the last man, woman, and child. He defines evil almost as something physical, as if he can see it on people. Many of these evil people people often are those who defy him or somehow get in his way. Unlike the Queen, he often times doesn't bother killing random people, and might even be willing to let a few things go (don't push it).
The biggest show of emotion was probably adopting his daughter Road. Although he doesn't openly show that he even cares/notices her. He probably only said all of 10 word to her before taking her in.
Lastly, thee is the manner of his eating. Many would think he just has a sweet-tooth, but mostly he's just a glutton. He tends to like simple foods, like spaghetti [with meat sauce], hamburgers, hot-dogs, and pancakes. He doesn't have royal tastes.
History: The Red King was born within the original Wonderland as the apathetic son of the Queen and King or Hearts. He was, however, too much for even them. He had special telekinesis powers that allowed him to control the bodies and minds of those around him. He had the option of forcefully making someone move against their will, or lulling their mind to make it easier for them. Either way it was a terrible power.
And he used it, at every chance. He seemed to find it natural to judge people, determining if they're Good or Evil. And he would kill any he deemed evil, mostly by having them kill themselves.
The Queen was horrified (and furious) and would have had her son killed. Hearing this, he turned on his mother, claiming she was Evil as well. There was a reflective mirror floor in the royal hall of the Kingdom of Hearts; and when he activated his power to kill his mother, the mirror reacted as well. He was drawn in and came out into a much darker world.
He met the Queen soon after, and quickly decided she was evil and had to be eliminated. The Queen seemed to also come to the same conclusion about him, but neither was able to destroy the other. For the last few centuries he developed a counter Kingdom to the Ice Kingdom. The Kingdom of Fire. He's bee at constant war with the White Queen ever since, vowing to destroy her.

The Red King leaned back in his throne, a expression of pure indifference on his face. The man before him was trembling, his knees knocking together audibly. He'd done something, though Legato didn't care enough to know what it was, overall it didn't effect him, but it was enough to get his guards to drag the guy in.
He bulled a pastry with blue icing out of a paper bag he had at his side and took a bite. Immediately the man began to stubble out that he was sorry and that it wasn't like he thought.
The Red King finished chewing and swallowed. "Are you afraid here?"
The man stuttered out a 'no' all the while his eyes going wide and a cold sweat breaking out over his skin. Legato finally lifted gold eyes up to the man, "What a pity... that you are lying."
The man's eyes widened as his arm began to move painfully on its own, twisting down to his sternum and pushing it's way through his own flesh.
The Red King took another bight of his pastry, not at all effected by the screams of the man impaling himself. "Eliminate."

† Road is very playful and has much the personality of a normal, if a bit spoiled, 12 year old girl. Most of the time. Other times she can be rather cunning and sadistic. She does what she wants.
† She's powerful enough to become the Black Bishop of the Chess Pieces, and was probably able to become a Knight, but chose not to, because it was too much work. She whines a lot, especially if she's bored.
† She tends to like torturing her victims more than killing them, and will often leave them be if they become unconscious. She loves cute boys, and tends to be very flirtatious around them. Even though she seems to be only 12, it is very possible that she could be older, considering she has lived with the King for many years, and was first found at this age.
History:
† Road was supposedly 'born' from within a blue rose in the Cursed Gardens. She was before a mischievous spirit in the Dark Wonderland. She was born looking like she does now, in the presence of the Red King Legato. Road took to the Red King right away, though it wasn't clarified if Legato feels any emotion toward her.
† Regardless of his feelings, the Red King adopted Road but a day later, making her the official Princess. This she takes as permission to do pretty much whatever she wants. She also seems to enjoy talking and playing with the Red King, though he very rarely plays or talks back.
† She is called the Dream Princess because of her power. Which is rooted from the fact that she is one of the Dark World's spirits. She can create new dimensions and areas in the Dark Wonderland, and can control quite a few of th usually random occurrences here. It's this amazing power that allowed this little girl to become a high ranking Chess Piece.
† When the Dark Hatta came into the Fire Kingdom (in his Light version), Road helped convince her 'father' to let him become her 'babysitter'. Since he'd done nothing 'evil' as far as the King could see, it was fine.
† Road is close to the Ace, knowing that he is the White Queen's General, but never telling. She seems to find him interesting, and fun to play with. She's the one who makes the nowhere's and nothing's the Ace has.

† The Dark Hatta was sitting at the tea table, dumping way too much sugar into one cup of tea. He looked up, he was in his suit again, his long top-hat perched on top of his wavy strands of inky blackness. "Aa, Road. Why do you call me that?"
† The Princess sat up with a huff, "I can call you anything I want! So, your name is Tyki from now on." She said with a nod.
† "Is that so?" The Ace said, putting three more sugar cubes in his tea. Road glared at him, before pouting, "Well I can't just call you the Ace of Spades, now can I?"
† "Sure you could."
† The princess stood suddenly and walked over to her babysitter, then climbed up into his lap. "Yeah, but I'd rather call you Tyki. And you didn't answer me!"
† The Ace looked at her with an air of seriousness, and she looked right back. "What was the question again?"
